Warmest Wednesday Ever!

"CLUBHOUSE VOICES"

Today Georgia found a pine cone and split it open. It was a cool pattern inside!

We were outside for gym and jungle safari at the playground, Shemuella and Abi's favorite was the monkey bars and glider.

We made our own math problem with things in the classroom like blocks and cards.

We had a fire drill while we were outside for gym! The school got out in less than a minute!

We got our Clay for Kids glass Inuksuks. They were beautiful. We will hang them in the coat room for awhile so everyone can admire them!!

Today Elizabeth saw a bird - she was going to show us, but the fire drill interrupted her and then the bird flew away! She is still not sure what type of bird - hopefully it will come back soon.

Kipling shared his awesome snake book, he shared snake facts at the end of the book.

Kipling's book was fun and I learned a lot from it.

We did playground safari again. My favorite was the monkey bars!

We played a 4 square relay. Each of us had a number and when Mrs. Armour called our number, we had to run, touch the number and do an activity.

Today was really warm. Plus 18 degrees celsius! Just a little while ago it was -18 degrees. (Can you figure out the difference?)

We got our glass Inuksuks back. It wasn't sharp anymore. It felt nice and smooth.

Tuesday March 19

Joel shared his Bot bots today. Did you know they are made by the same company who made Transformers?

We are finding some interesting pictures and facts during our research time -ask me what I discovered!

We practiced more listening/writing dictation sentences with different word families...there was a tricky one (which is trickier when you can't see the words!) "The little pig ate eight figs." Can you tell why it was tricky?

We had a sharing time in Math to discuss our board games - what we did well, what we added after feedback and what we would change if we created another board game, then we wrote our ideas down.

Our word problem today was about 7 dogs and their puppies. Watch for the word EACH. What does it mean if each dog has 4 puppies? We counted by 4's and 5's.

We had an organization time to make sure we have all the right sheets in the right folder to show you during conferences - we have been busy learning about the Arctic and doing experiments!

After lunch we had finish up time - we had to be done our math problem, Inukshuk poem, organizing then we had free choice. Colin had a great idea and he went and got some of the kindness sheets from Room 4/5 to colour for our Clubhouse.

"Today we had gym. It was the best gym ever because it was jungle safari outside!"

"We had jungle safari on the playground and played followed the leader then we had some free choice outside."

THURSDAY is LIBRARY day and Parent Conferences - looking forward to seeing everyone!
Enjoy this sunshine!!

Monday -Sun, Inuksuks Ice and the number 12 in Pictures!

Happy Monday! For the next four mornings we will be researching more details about the Arctic. We can choose one of arctic books to read and find something new to add to our already growing knowledge of this region. We can find an Inuktitut word, draw and label a picture, or write an interesting new fact to share during carpet connection time.

We brainstormed some words to write an Acrostic poem of the word INUKSUK to go with our beautiful glass art we did with Clay For Kids.

In word work, we will be continue listening and writing a sentence that Mrs. Armour reads to us to practice our printing, sounding out, spacing and spelling all together.

In Math we will continue to work on word problems. Today are "special number" was 12. We all had 12 cube blocks and explored different ways to group them to create number sentences then we created a word problem from one of our sentences.

As investigators, we questioned and hypothesized about what might happen when ice and salt come together? Then each group observed how two ice cubes changed over time - one without salt, one with salt. We checked on our ice cubes every 5 minutes 20 minutes while Mrs. Armour read the story, Tupag the Dreamer. Ask me what I observed. What does this tell you about the difference between saltwater and freshwater?

We will plan to have gym outside this week because of the beautiful weather! Thanks for sending boots to run and splash in! Today we ran a lap and did a soccer and marble relay - "Don't lose your marbles!"

Thanks for booking your Parent Conferences for Thursday 4-8 pm or Friday 8-12 pm. Non-instruction day on Friday.
Spring break is from March 23-March 31. April 1st is the first day back to school (no fooling:)

Fresh Air Friday - Game Extravaganza and Snow Shoes!

We were so excited to play our board games with our Big Buddies this morning! After inside recess and a little "St. Patrick's Day" video, we went outside to snow shoe with our Big Buddies - it was so beautiful outside. We were pretending we were on an Arctic adventure...ice fishing and hunting. Have a great weekend - get outside and enjoy the beautiful weather. Next week looks like a warming trend so thanks for sending outside clothes for wet weather (maybe some extra socks and pants:)

Next week share chair days are Monday - Graham, Tuesday - Joel, Wednesday - Kipling, Thursday - Lucas.

Parent/Teacher Conferences are Thursday 4-8pm and Friday 8-12pm. Spring Break is March 22-31.
