Happy Halloween or "All Hallow's Eve" October 31st

Happy Halloween!

We had Library time in 2 parts today to fit it all in...first the Kindergarten parade!! Then off to Music
and then we came back to the Library so Mrs. Kidd could read us a cool new spooky story with lots
of juicy words and interesting illustrations...and the author and illustrator are coming to visit us DECEMBER 4TH at 11AM. Here's a note from Mrs. Kidd

We will be hosting Jace Jax and Henry Hama who write and illustrate the Kidsburgh Chronicles. You have heard the Halloween story this week; there is a Christmas story as well!  This will be for the whole school.  Parents are welcome.

Both presentations will be in the learning commons.

Please add these exciting events to your schedule.

For Math, we did some 100 block work with subtraction...we had to trade 100 block for 10's and 1's to figure out subtraction problems using cards.

We watched a mystery movie with the grade 3/4's called The Curse of the Were Rabbit starring Wallace and Gromit. Ask me what it was about, what the problem was, attempts made and how they finally solved the mystery and the wrap up!

REMINDERS:

Today in Math we practiced creating increasing (growing) patterns. We are learning the difference between a beautiful, interesting pattern and a growing pattern. The words we use to create a "pattern rule"
are START with ______. ADD ______ each time. Ask me to give you an example.
Here are some of our examples.

This afternoon we did a science review with Room 4 playing a jeopardy game with questions
about Light and Shadow.
We are bringing home our green science books today to share and review what we know with you.
Tomorrow we will have a "science check". Thanks for returning the green books.

THURSDAY is SWIM DAY. Wear clothes that are easy to put on and off and a separate bag with swim suit and towel. We could still use some volunteers, especially on the Mondays, Oct 28/Nov 4.

Today was Treat Day. Thank you Room 2!

We learned about COPS today for editing our spooky stories. Ask me about the colors, highlighting and what the letters stand for.

Happy Birthday to Lily!!

Today we looked at maps and found the borders of Brentwood - North, South, West, East. Ask me if I remember the names of the roads!!

Then we walked today with Rooms 4, 5 and 6 and the guest teachers in training. We walked a long way!! All the way to Charleswood - Great job everyone!

Here we are gathering our data from our survey. Ask which "place" was the most popular.
We are now working together to put the information into graphs.

We will continue working on our Spooky Stories and Literacy centres during writing time.
In Science we are reviewing Light and Shadow and will have a "check that you know" on Wednesday.

In Math, we continue to work on patterning and on graphs for Social Studies.

Thursday is our first swim day. Thanks for getting your forms in! Thanks for all the volunteers who have signed up!
We could still use some more volunteers on MONDAY, NOVEMBER 4th and dads or grandpas for all days with police clearance. Thanks so much.
