March is here!

We are keeping track of the daily temperature and how it changes. We made a line graph (ask me how this is different than a bar graph) to show a week of ups and downs. Today at 8:30 am, it was -23 degrees celsius and at 3:00 pm it was -7 degrees celsius! Challenge: How many degrees warmer was it at 3pm than at 8:30 am?

We discussed "hamburger writing" today (ONE topic sentence - the bun, then ADD 3 DETAILS pickles, lettuce cheese, then a CLOSER - another bun.) We practiced sharing about our weekend and tried to say just one topic sentence and then added a few details like WHO was with us, WHERE we were and WHEN it happened. This will help us learn how to write paragraphs and later, stories. Ask me what I wrote about in my journal. Did I try the hamburger strategy?

For Math, we did a "show and share" with Room 1/2 with our game boards to practice sharing and explaining and to see if we could get or give any more ideas for our games.

During Word Work, we worked on a "word family" challenge to see if we could get at least 3 words from -AT, -EN, -IG, -UG, -IT, -ACK. The grade 2's extra challenge was all the "long a" words they could think of on the back of their sheets. This helps us with our writing and reading when we are learning to sound out words.

For Gym this week we are doing Jungle Safari - it was fun! Ask me what the challenge is !

We had Music today - ask me what the surprise was!

We are bringing home some writing/printing sheets - please take and look in our backpack.

SHARE CHAIR - We now have a Tigger rocking chair in our room - every day will be a special share day for a different person and they will get to sit on the Tigger chair and share:). Please check the blog as we will let you know who's turn it is. There is also the calendar inside the door of the clubhouse that you can check.
