We had so much fun creating our own Math problems today to challenge our friends. Here is what we need to think about before writing our word problem.
1. What do I want my problem to be about? Animals/Food/Flowers/Bicycles/Dinosaurs?
2. What is my problem? What am I trying to find out? How many feet/cherries/petals/wheels/tails?
3. Do I have my question written out clearly? How many ______ altogether?
4. Large numbers are fun, but it gets a bit challenging...so just keep it simple (between 1-10) and have fun with the "story".
Example: If there are 3 red flowers and 2 yellow flowers on a hill and each flower has 5 petals, how many petals altogether?
Remember you need a NUMBER sentence and a WORD sentence and a PICTURE to get full points!
You can always get out the lego or blocks or pennies to "see" the problem first.
FUN LUNCH TOMORROW for those who ordered.
LIBRARY TOMORROW.
PARENT CONFERENCES are next week March 21/22nd.
