When Will Windy Wednesdays Warm?

Today we had indoor recess in the morning and outdoor recess at lunch - it was cold and windy! Our temperature graph didn't get as high today!

We researched clothing and things to do in the Arctic today. Ask me what the word for coat is in the Inuktitut language? (Hint: it starts with a "p" and we use it in english!) We read the book Snow Bear again while watching a video of the "Frozen Seas". Mrs Armour will post the link below - it helped us feel like we were right there with the polar bears and icebergs!

For word work we played a game with dice and letters. Every number 1-6 was matched with a vowel and then we had to think of a word (or find it on our word wall!) with that vowel in it. Ask me some words our group made or maybe we can play this game together?

During Math we discussed word problems and how to solve them. It's important to read all the words and then find the important words to find the solution. We then tried to do one by ourselves all about 5 cows, 2 chickens and 3 pigs (How many feet altogether?) Ask me what strategies I used to solve it.

During science we discussed our experiment and the insulators we tried. Ask me which is the best insulator we tried and how does that help me understand how polar bears keep warm. If you want to challenge yourself, you could look in your closet and try and find the coat that would be the best insulator - why?

GRADE TWOS - PLEASE RETURN DENTAL SURVEY FORMS TOMORROW. Even if you choose not to participate, please send back white envelope. Thank you!!

LIBRARY THURSDAY - thanks Mrs. Kidd for making our cool reminder cards - please return the cards with the books - we are suggesting you use them for a bookmark.

Thanks for dressing so warm for these cold days. It looks like we are finally going to get a break with the frigid weather, but we will be outside a lot more now, so thank you for continuing to dress in layers, snow pants, boots, hats and mitts - just like in Nunavut!

Check out our science experiment investigation and our jungle safari!
