Tuesday - Chinook!

Today we started with our friendship card creating and writing. We watched the original "mini-movie" called Ferdinand. Then we did a friendship circle on the carpet...each of us had to think of a kind word for our friends on either side of us as we passed the heart around the circle. We tried to think of "inside" words vs. "outside" words, so say something about the person, not just what they are wearing. "I like that you are a good listener" instead of "I like your shirt."

Ms. Vivianne led us for our last yoga class. She asked us to each think of an animal or something from nature and then we tried to make our bodies move like that, so arch our back like a cat, or stand tall with our hands stretching up like a tree.

After recess, we worked with our group to measure and sketch a life size outline of our animal. The moose is really, really big in real life! It took up the whole hallway! Ask us how many sheets of one inch graph paper we needed to sketch our animal. We are working on outlining and coloring and writing the measurements to let everyone know the actual size.

We finished our Friendship circle, had some reading time and then did another friend activity. We had to walk around the room and think of kind words to write on all our classmates paper. The tricky thing was we were only supposed to use words that started with the same letter as their name! We discovered, "M" "I" and "J" words were a lot harder to think of than "A" and "C"!

Georgia shared her book, Junie B. Jones. Thanks Georgia! We had some extra time to read Old Man Coyote. Ask me if Granny Fox fooled Old Man Coyote or the other way around!

Tomorrow is our Friendship Celebration in the afternoon. You can wear pink, red or purple if you would like! Please remember to put your cards in your backpack if you have valentine cards for the whole class.
