yadsendeW sdrawkcaB - Backwards Wednesday

Hi, we were all mixed up today for "Backwards Day"! We even walked backward in the hallway!
During guided reading we searched through atlases to see if we could find all the countries on the list who are competing in the Winter Olympics. We are deciding which country our group will choose to be for Mathlympics.

Gymnastics - There was more equipment in the gym today, so we had 7 stations to discover how to move across, over, up and down using balance, travel and shape. Ask me which station was the most challenging and which station I'm looking forward to.

Family writing - most of us are working on our good copies, so we can use the fancy paper. We are learning to self edit - check our writing by reading it out loud to see if it sounds right and if we are missing words, capitals or periods.

There is a big mountain of snow from the parking lot that is a lot of fun to play on during recess. A lot of us are playing there and having fun!

Special visitors - we had some visitors from Kindergarten come for a "Happy Lunar New Year!" parade. It was exciting and fun to have Mrs. Wilkins surprise us with clanging cymbals and lead her class through the Clubhouse and see all the dragons they had made.  We also had Simon Fraser students come in the afternoon to discuss friendship with us. We "watched" the book, Invisible Boy on the Smart Board, then designed our own T-shirts. Ask us about the story.

Mathlympics - we ended the day making more links for a 100 chain to compete in the challenge. Most of us have 70 links...almost there! We are excited for the opening ceremonies on Monday!

THURSDAY after gym, we will have a presentation on recycling.

FRIDAY WE WOULD LIKE TO GO TO NOSE HILL...The weather is warming up and looks perfect for a hike to Nose Hill to look for evidence of animals. WE NEED VOLUNTEERS so we can go. Please email Mrs. Armour or call the school if you are available this FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 23rd from 9-12pm THANKS SO MUCH!

Happy Lunar New Year!
