Olympics have begun...

Today we got new jobs and they will last all week. Trinity, Tessa, Lily and Samantha will help with Blog.

We had our busy morning with guided reading, gymnastics and library all before recess. In gymnastics, we are learning to balance and move high, low, fast, slow and dismount from the benches onto the mats. Ask us what "sticking the landing" means and how long we should hold it.

After recess, we watched Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir skate for gold!! We met together with our fellow "athletes" to begin our Olympic Math Challenge! We watched a few minutes of the half pipe skiing and watched our Canadian come first with over 90 points! That got us excited and in the mood to compete.

Our first job in our groups is to create "Olympic rings" and string 100 of them together! We need to make every tenth ring black. The other colors are red, yellow, green and black. It was fun. We learned why the Olympic flag has the colors, blue, black, red, yellow, green. Ask us if we remember what the colors stand for. We have to choose a country and then will be competing in different events discovering how to work together and be mathematicians at the same time.

Today we had lunch in our Clubhouse. For the next while, we will have lunch in Room 1/2 because the gym is full of gymnastics equipment.

This afternoon, we worked on one chain of our Olympic rings, then we wrote in our journals and tried to finish up our good copies for our family writing.

It was Lily's birthday today! Happy Birthday to you!

DAY BACKWARDS IS TOMORROW - TOMORROW IS BACKWARDS DAY
Wear your shirt backwards or your hair if you'd like to join in our school spirit day!

WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 28th is our FIELD TRIP TO LEIGHTON ART CENTRE
We have our two parent volunteers, thank you! If you would still like to come, you are welcome to drive and meet us there. (It's about a 50 minute drive, so you might want to carpool).
