Rainy Friday

We started the morning by sharing our Dioramas with our Big buddies from Room 6 and 7 - it was fun to tell them all about our animals and their habitat!

We thought about the rain and birds and how they might adapt. We discovered that birds fluff up their feathers to keep warm, but if it rains for a long time, even birds get wet and cold and hungry. Larger birds like eagles and crows stay warmer longer than little birds like chickadees and hummingbirds.

We went outside for a walk to Whispering woods to see if we could see any birds...and then we discovered egg shells on the ground - 5, 6, 7! They were about the size of a chicken egg and a creamy colour - see if you can do some research and come up with an idea of what kind of bird might have laid and hatched those eggs! Exciting!

We had indoor recess and then Saa'Kokoto came and told us another story about Okotok (ask me what this means and what the story was about!) and we sang together.

In our Visual Journals we drew symbols and wrote words that reminded us of some of the learning Saa'Kokoto has taught us. The whole school signed a Dr. Coffin T-shirt and we presented it to him in the Learning Commons. We are glad we don't have to say, "Good-bye" just "See you next time!"

Have a great weekend!
