Tuesday, June 5th

This morning some of us needed to finish up our journal writing and then we worked on our story plan sheet. We discussed and thought about which characters we will use, the setting (Nose hill), what the problem might be (connecting with the needs of all animals - food, water, shelter, space), how the characters will try and fix the problem and then how to have a fun, interesting ending!

Mrs. Armour read a book called Armadillo Rodeo by Jan Brett. Ask me what my favorite part was!

Today was our last Library day to take books out. Next week Mrs. Kidd will ask us to make sure all our books are back to the library, so she can start organizing for the end of the school year.

In Math groups today, some of us were using tens and ones to show a different way to add, some of us were showing how many different ways you can add 2 numbers to make 10, and some of us read a story about odd and even again and then used the 100 chart and dice to practice adding and figuring out if our answers were odd or even.

We had running club today because of our field trip tomorrow. Not as many ran, but some new people joined so we had a total today of almost 90 laps! We have ran over 400 laps altogether and are over "halfway to Humboldt"

After lunch, we used the Glenbow Museum archive photographs to discover what Calgary looked like around 100 years ago - ask me what we discovered about food, clothing, houses, transportation and sport!

We played Kick ball again today...we are learning to watch the ball and when our team mates kick it, we need to run around the 3 bases and beat the outfielders. If there is a tie, the runner is safe! There is a lot going on, but we are trying to be good sports and help our team!

TOMORROW WE ARE GOING TO HERITAGE PARK for the day. Dress in layers with comfortable shoes, a healthy lunch and water bottle. We are excited to discover what Calgary looked like a long time ago!

Thursday, June 7th is our first swimming day. Please wear comfortable clothes that are easy to take on and off. Please send a towel and a small bag/backpack if possible. We will walk to the pool just after 1:00pm and return after 2:30pm.

FRIDAY, JUNE 8th is a Non-Instructional Day. No school for students.

June 13, Wednesday is spirit day - dress like you are going to the beach! (Sorry, no swim suits though!) Hats, sunglasses, Hawaii or Mexico shirts/shorts/sun-dresses are great!
