Pajama Day Tuesday, November 26th!

Hi there! We are writing this on Monday to remind you it's PJ day tomorrow. We can wear our PJ's and bring a stuffie (just make sure it fits it our backpack, thank you!).

In Math we are continuing to work on word problems. Some of us work at the carpet and some of us work at our desks. We need to highlight the important number words, make a number sentence, then a word sentence.

Here is one:

At the track meet, it took Grant one minute to complete a full lap of the track. If he does seven laps, for how long did he run?

Today we read Polar Express and discussed similes...as hot as the desert, as cold as a popsicle, as fast as....? Ask me how many I can think of! We also drew in our art journals - the beginning, middle, middle, end to keep us focused on the important parts of the story. We will be writing tomorrow answering the question "If Santa gave me the first Christmas gift, what would it be?" If you can discuss the difference between "important and lasting" gifts vs. "fun, short-term" gifts that will help us think about what gift we might ask for. (The boy in the Polar Express asked for a simple bell off the sleigh - why do you think he asked for that when he could have asked for anything? Hmmmmm.)

In gym we practiced ringette skills with the rings and shooting and going around a cone and then we did a relay!

Today we went to the website www.geography4kids.com and clicked on "earth structure" and then "rock types" on the side bar. Ask me if I can describe the 3 types of rocks and give an example. We also reviewed minerals - they are made of crystals and are inside rocks - do you know your birthstone?

FIELD TRIP TO GLENBOW MUSEUM on Monday, December 9th! We will need volunteers, so thanks for emailing or talking to Mrs. Armour if you are available. The forms will be coming home soon.

FESTIVE EVENING is Thursday, December 12th - Save the date!
