Tuesday, April 23

Did you know today was St. George's Day? Do you know the legend about St. George and the dragon? We decided it was a good day for Georgia to share! She shared an Arctic box she made at home. It had a beluga whale breaking through the ice and other animals on land. She even made northern lights. Ask me another name for northern lights!

We started with Journals and after Guided reading shared some ideas of what we did on our Easter weekend. Ask me if I wrote 3 or more ideas. Ask me if I shared my journal with someone else and helped them edit theirs.

After recess we practiced nouns, verbs and adjectives as a group and then on our own. Ask me to tell you what are some hints to remember if a word is a noun, verb and adjective.
Big, white beluga whales splashing! Can you tell which word is which?

Today we worked on some adding and subtracting for our word problem. We didn't use real numbers for baby teeth (there's only 20) to make it more of a challenge!

If Mike had 30 teeth and lost 2 in Kindergarten, 5 in grade one and 7 in grade two, how many teeth did he lose in total
Ask me if I had to add or subtract.

Next question - How many teeth did Mike still have in his mouth?

Challenge question - If the tooth fairy left a dime (10 cents) for every tooth, how much money did Mike get in total? Remember to think just one step at a time! It's okay to use something to show the "teeth" (pencils, marbles, lego) Ask me how I figure this out.

Over the next week, we will be assembling our Arctic Paper Bag Book. Ask me what we glued in today.

For gym we went outside and practiced throwing frisbees at targets. It was a bit windy so we discussed how to check first and throw with the wind!

We used Chromebooks after gym to write up our information for our Inuksuk. We will be displaying our giant inuksuit in the clubhouse.
