Hello! This week Trinity, Ingmar, Georgia, Max, Birdy and Emmaline are helping with the blog. Ingmar, Trinity, Emmaline, Arthur and Lucas have shared about "trips." Thank you! Malik, Jared, Colin and Logan can share this week or next week about a trip they went on, whether to the zoo or Timbuktu!
We are doing lots of sharing lately because we are working on our PATTERNS and POETRY. We are working towards getting a special button that says, "I'm a poet and I know it!" Ask us how we can earn this button over the next few weeks!
In the morning, we played volleyball in the gym. We were practicing throwing the ball over the net. Then we tried sitting down, making a "window"shape with our hands and throwing the ball in the air and tried to catch it 2, 3 or 5 times in a row. This helps us with control of the volleyball. We played a quick game at the end just throwing the ball over the net until Mrs. Armour blew the whistle - whoever had LESS volleyballs on their side won!
We are practicing PACE, especially during gym time. P stands for participate, A stands for attitude, C stands for cooperation, E stands for effort!
During Math, we are doing different centres to discover lots of different ways to make patterns. In Beads and More Beads, we have to make patterns with beads. Today the blue ran out, so we think it is a favorite! We have to show patterns with different colors. Once we record our patterns in our math book, we can take home our bracelets or necklaces. Another math centre is Action patterns. One pattern Birdy thought of was, "clap, pat, whistle, stomp" or an ABCD pattern.
We only have one more day of drumming! Our drumming teacher's name is Roger - we call him Mr. Roger. He told us about West Africa and North Africa. Ask us how the drums are different and why.
(Hint: in the north, it's a desert and in the west, there is a forest.) He's super funny!
Parents and family are invited to come and hear us play on Friday at 11:00 AM in the gym. Come and hear what we have learned.
A reminder about the Coffin cares T-shirt tan colored sheet that went home. This was just to inquire how many are interested in ordering shirts or sweatshirts. If we have enough interest, another order form will come home that you can send back with money. Thank you!
Tomorrow is Fun Lunch. If you have ordered one, your child will receive one. If not, you might want to send something a little "fun" in their regular lunch.
Just a reminder to read and send back Home reading. The students book will get exchanged Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday.
Looking ahead to Wednesday, February 7th. It is WINTER WALK DAY. We will all enjoy a walk together as a school and you are welcome to join us!
